Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend passed away November 10, 2017 after a valiant battle with gall bladder cancer. He was born January 19, 1940 to Paul S. Harrington and Hazel D. Javaine in Murray, Utah. When asked what he wanted most in his obituary Ronald proudly stated that he wanted everyone to know that he was a Beetdigger, a graduate of Jordan High School in 1958!!
He received his Bachelors degree at Weber State College in accounting.
He loved the Lord dearly, and lived with and served the Navajo, Apache, Suni, and Hopi people in the Southeast Indian Mission, and learned to speak the Navajo language.
He married Mary Campbell (later divorced) and had 3 beautiful daughters.
On December 31, 1985, Ronald married the love of his life, soulmate and sweetheart Mechelle Denise Brown and gained 2 cherished sons.
Ronald was a CPA by trade, but his true passion was owning a successful stock transfer business with his wife for over 30 years.
Ronald loved adventure! He loved to scuba dive, fly radio controlled helicopters, hiking, paragliding, bungee jumping, even parachuting out of an airplane with his wife and grandsons, and flying a fighter plane in a dog fight over the Pacific Ocean.
He loved to make memories especially with his children and grandchildren. From neighborhood rides and parades in his 1941 WWII military jeep, to camping at Smith & Moorehouse and Lake Powell, cruising with Disney in the Carribean, and traveling all over the world. He was committed to keeping his family and friends close by arranging frequent get togethers of lunch, dinner, and a lot of golfing! He also continued serving on the Jordan High school reunion committee until the end.
He was the most generous, kind and loving man, giving everything he had to those around him. Even during his courageous battle, he never complained, and continued serving those around him.
In Feb. 2017, he and Mechelle publicly declared their faith and love for Jesus Christ by being baptized together at South Mountain Community Church.
He is survived by his wife Mechelle, children Christine (Stanford) Engh, LeAnn (Trent) Higgins, Sheri Beavers, Larry (Amiee) Brown, Joseph (Jeri) Brown, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the great care Ronald received from Dr. Niton Chandramoulli, Dr. Richard Bennett, the wonderful staff at the Utah Cancer Specialists, and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
In the words of Ronald's favorite musician, Frank Sinatra......
"To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
Oh no, oh no not me,
I did it my way.
Yes! I did it my way"
Celebration of Life services will be held Wednesday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m. at South Mountain Community Church, 14216 S. Bangerter Parkway, Draper. In lieu of flowers please donate to Utah Cancer Specialists.
