After a valiant battle with brain cancer, Ronald Wayne Duggar (63) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ron, the fifth of eight children born to Joyce and Leonard Duggar, came into the world on January 19, 1961, in Orlando, Florida. Shortly after, his family relocated to Bountiful, Utah, where he was raised.
Ron married his sweetheart, Janet Hansen, on April 23, 1983. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and service. He was a devoted husband, a proud father of two sons, and a doting grandfather to two grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Ron had a zest for life and a passion for learning. As a longtime member of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society, he loved exploring the wonders of the universe. He enjoyed camping, golfing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His optimistic spirit and creative mind meant he was always brimming with new ideas, which led to many business ventures as well as finding ways to make life better for those around him.
As a man deeply committed to his faith, Ron served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the London South Mission, where he had many wonderful experiences that strengthened his testimony in Jesus Christ. He dedicated countless hours to working with the Boy Scouts and the youth of the Church, finding great fulfillment in mentoring and uplifting others. He cherished his callings and the people he served alongside, leaving a legacy of service and devotion.
Ron is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janet; his two sons, Dallan (Kelsey) and Jadan; and his two grandchildren, Finnegan and Lennon. He is also survived by his siblings, David (Cherie), Michael (Shelly), Carol Alberts (Tom), Vicki Griffeth (Kent), Denise Putnam (John), Jolene Hope, and Jerry (Tammie); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Duggar; his mother, Joyce Duggar; and his brother-in-law, Greg Hope.
Ron’s life was a testament of unconditional love, selfless service, and unwavering optimism. His light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and home hospice nurses for their exceptional care and compassion for Ron and all of us during this difficult time.
We are also deeply grateful for the many acts of kindness and service shown by friends and loved ones, especially during Ron's final months. While we will miss Ron dearly, we find comfort in the knowledge of a joyful reunion made possible through the love and grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
