Ronald Vyron Baker, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, born December 1, 1936 in Cedar City, Utah, passed away peacefully June 23, 2016. Ronald was sealed for time and all eternity, on August 10, 1956 in the Logan Temple to the love of his life Margaret Schetselaar who was by his side for 59 years 11 months. Ronald graduated from Jordan High School in 1955. He graduated from Weber State with a B.S. in Police Science in 1971. He was a member of the National Guard from 1955 to 1958. Ronald served as a deputy sheriff in Salt Lake County from 1963 to 1967, the Utah State narcotics and liquor enforcement division from 1967 to 1971 and was with the Department of Justice DEA as a special agent from 1971 to 1981. He took a disability retirement due to a car accident in 1978 while on the job. A few years later he worked in the Salt Lake Marshalls' Service and as a bailiff in the Sandy City Justice Court. Upon retirement Ron and Margaret continued to serve those in the Justice system by serving an LDS mission in the Utah Department of Corrections. He worked with the youth in the Young Men's Organization and also served in two bishoprics. The scripture that defines his life, Matthew 25:40'...In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done it unto me...' He was constantly, genuinely serving others. Ronald enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing hockey goalie with his grandson and going to car shows with his 1963 Impala convertible. He enjoyed eating banana cream pie and putting ketchup on and in EVERYTHING. He loved watching Brigham Young University and Denver Broncos football games and enjoyed close games. He loved a good practical joke and to tease, as long as there was no harm done. Ronald had a deep love for children, being with his grandchildren and swinging on swings with them. He took pride in attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He lived by the principle of integrity, gratitude, faith, humility, hard work, service towards others and unconditional love for family, and with Margaret, taught his children to live by the same principles. His greatest joy was his posterity.
His final transition was on his terms. He returned home to his Heavenly Father the morning of June 23rd after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
