Roman Dean Bird was born on January 9, 2017 in Shawnee, Kansas. He was welcomed into a loving family who cherished his beautiful addition to the family. His sister, Baylee (8), loved being his second mother. His brother, Mason (5), loved holding him and playing with him. His brother, Malachi (3), loved bringing him toys, pushing him in the stroller and grabbing his hand to come and play.
Roman was a little boy anxious to join the world and often seemed older than he really was. He was sitting up by 5 months, crawling by 6, walking by 8 months and running shortly after. He loved his little mortal body and was always so happy to join his brothers and sisters in all they were doing. He didn't want to be left out. He was adventurous and curious. He wanted to explore every inch of the world around him.
Roman had so much to say. His bubbly, jibberish talk was constant and had so many stories to tell you. After he told you a story he would grab your finger and lead you to what he wanted or have you join him in another adventure. He loved being the center of attention.
The last couple months of Roman's life was filled with family vacations as his family moved from Kansas to Utah. All who met Roman would comment on his beauty and special spirit. There was a light about him that could not be diminished. He loved life and loved being a part of his family. While his drowning was a tragic accident, his family has been filled with a special peace of understanding. After a strong fight in the intensive care, Roman passed away in his mother's arms early Sunday morning, June 10, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. We know that Roman is with his Father in Heaven now.
Roman was survived by his parents, Steven Kenneth Bird and Brittny Jones Bird; his siblings, Baylee, Mason and Malachi Bird; his grandparents, Roger and Darlene Bird, and Dennis and Kathy Jones; his great grandmothers June Jones and Karen Brown; and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest 6th Ward, 1165 East 8600 South, Sandy, with a viewing at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment , Crescent Cemetery.
