Romaine Hatfield Mangelson passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2018 at the age of 90. Romaine was born in Levan, Utah, December 27, 1927 to Reuben A. C. and Nettie Irene Mangelson. Being the youngest of three siblings, he is survived by his older brother Golden (Irene) Mangelson and preceded in death by his sister Lois (Jack) Brough.
He married his high school sweetheart, Pauline Anderson, on April 4, 1950 in the Manti Temple, and together they had three children. Romaine was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was full of life. Telling stories and making people laugh was one of his greatest loves.
Romaine spent his career working many jobs including farming, being a butcher, and working in the NRP Manufacturing Plant in Nephi. Romaine was an avid hunter, fisherman, and "ugly, old trapper" in his later years. When asked about his best day fishing, his favorite saying was "every day fishing was my best day fishing."
He and Pauline wintered in St. George after he retired. They had and made many great friends wherever they went. In the spring of 2013, he lost the love of his life Pauline. Even though the last five years have been filled with the love of his family and friends, he talked almost daily about how he "missed mama."
Romaine will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in knowing that we will be with him and Pauline again. He is survived by his three children: Celia (Cindy), Adele, and Parks (Todd); 5 grandsons: Jacob (Orjola) Stokes, Hans (Amy) Stokes, Ethan (Rachel) Stokes, Spencer Stokes and Tyler Stokes: and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday May 26, 2018 at the LDS Levan Ward. A viewing will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N. in Nephi, Friday May 25, 2018 from 6-8 pm. Friends and family may call 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the Levan Cemetery immediately following the services.
The family would like to express appreciation for the exceptional care from Heather Bailey CNA, Marie Dinger RN (Nurse Humdinger), and Brandon Aegerter LCSW for their love, kindness and unending support.
