Our husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, Roland Emil Anderson, 80, passed away July 7, 2016, in Alta View Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Midvale, Utah, on January 16, 1936, to Rudolph Axel and Florence Justesen Anderson. He loved his daily walks, laughing with friends and family, and especially supporting the University of Utah football team as a season ticketholder for 25 years.

He attended Jordan High School where he was the center on the football team and was a member of the wrestling team. After graduating in 1954, he served in the U.S. Army for two years. He married Charlotte Ann Anderson on Oct. 12, 1961, in Midvale, Utah. Making their home here, he worked for 40 years at Boise Cascade, Anderson Lumber, and Stock Lumber. He loved his work and the many customers he helped each day.

He is survived by his wife ot 54 years, Charlotte Ann Anderson; sons, Gary (Jennifer) of Austin, Texas; Darin (Alessandra) of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Renae (Peter) Ulberg of Sacramento, California; sister, Elaine Fry of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Roland was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas; sister-in-law, Lois Anderson; and brother-in-law, Gordon Fry.

The viewing and funeral will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, Utah. The viewing is from 9-10:45 a.m., the funeral is from 11-12. Interment will be at Sandy City Cemetery.
