He is survived by his mother, Sharon Sorenson, daughters Teresa Karren (Brady Hancock), Katie Karren (Todd Allred), Kristen Karren and his lifelong best friend, Irene Karren. He was so proud when he became "Grandpa" to his lil pumpkin, Riley Hancock. He loved and admired his brothers Winston (Priscillla) Karren, Brad (Anita) Karren, Todd (Nicole) Karren and Ted (Teresa) Karren. He enjoyed the time they could spend together and he loved to tease them. He was preceeded in death by Dennis L. Karren.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been set up in his honor at America First Credit Union. Please see end of obituary for further information.

Rod was born on March 9, 1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where Rod fell in love with the Wasatch Mountains. He attended Brighton High School and graduated in 1977. While he attended Brighton High School, he played quarterback on the football team. After graduation he continued to play football at the University of Utah. Although football was his favorite sport, he played baseball and basketball as well and excelled at each one.

After college, Rod was a very successful businessman. He started his career at the age of 25 with various companies in the plumbing wholesale industry before joining RKR Corporation and ultimately becoming part owner of the company. He won many awards including "Salesman of The Year" several years in a row.

He had an infections laugh and great sense of humor. He made friends wherever he went. He loved all sports and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He cherished spending time with his daughters, fishing, camping, boating and skiing.

He was naturally musically talented and played the guitar, piano and loved to sing and dance. He loved animals, especially his beloved companion, his chihuahua Lily, and his "little boy" Kovu, a miniature Australian Shepherd. He will be missed by everyone who knew him because he was an intelligent, happy, generous, kind, genuine and amazing man.

Rod you are not with us anymore, but our love for you will never die. We love you so much. You will be missed everyday. May you rest in peace. With love, your family.
