Robert William Sommer

Robert William Sommer began his eternal journey with his Heavenly Father on March 10th 2020. Robert was born August 17th 1960 in Pomona California.

Robert married the love of his life, Jan, on May 20th 2002. They were sealed for time and all eternity on November 17th 2017 in the Provo City Center Temple. He loved Jan more than anything else and he believed family was the most important thing in life. It didn't matter if you were blood, step, an in-law, or a friend; you were family to Robert.

Robert was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings throughout his life and fulfilled them to the fullest, including his service as a full time missionary in New York from 1979-1981. His favorite calling was being a grandpa to 22 grandchildren.

People who knew Robert knew him as a goofy, hard-working, loving, kind, big kid. He loved playing with the grandkids and they loved playing with him.

Robert was the jack of all trades, he worked a wide variety of jobs. He spent over 30 years working for Whitehead Electric serving them in multiple capacities and making many friendships. His passion was building a business with his best friend and eternal partner Jan. Together they built and grew their own business while teaching others to do the same. Robert loved to teach and mentor.

Robert had many hobbies including painting, rock collecting, spelunking, camping, hunting, spending time with family, and eating apple fritters.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Jan. Children - Chris (Logan), Jenn (Dustin), Joseph (Sydnee), Stephanie (James), Adam (Rachel), Michael (Renee), Chase ( Jamie), Kim (Cody). Parents - Ronald and Patricia. Siblings - Ronald (Bobbi) and Rolayne (Tom) and 22 Grandchildren.
