Robert "Mike" Haslam, age 74, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, evening at Utah Valley Hospital. He was born April 23, 1944 to Robert & Leone Haslam, in Salt Lake City, UT. He had 2 sisters Patricia & Gina. He graduated from Olympus High School and went on to University of Utah for computer science. He had 2 sons Rob & Christian.
He was the owner of 2 toy stores when he was 34. He had become one of the country's leading toy importers. His love for toys was amazing. Mike loved all sports and had a very adventurous life he loved to golf, and ski, until he suffered from a stroke in March 1978. After his stoke Mike had said, "I had everything and appreciated nothing," "My stroke made me stop and totally recalculate my life. Now I have nothing and appreciate everything."
Mike continued to live his life. He went back to college taking classes at Utah Technical College. He was married twice; once before his stroke and again after. Mike continued to love all sports. Mike loved his LDS religion and even held the Melchizedek Priesthood.
In 2005 he met Shirley Taylor, the two of them decided to move in and begin a life together. They lived in Midvale, UT, then Payson, UT, and finally Levan, UT. Every place they lived Mike made many friends through the church and community. Mike made such an impression on people with his personality and contagious smile. He will be missed dearly and be in everyone's thoughts always.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother and father Robert & Leone Haslam, and by his sister Patricia Chamberlin. Mike is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Gina & Ted Gianelo, his partner Shirley Taylor, sons Rob Haslam, Christian Haslam, & Scott Kesler. daughter Renee Barth, grandchildren Rob & Tiffany McCollum, great grandchildren Gage, Arrian, and Olivia McCollum.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018, at 12:00 Noon at the Levan Town Cemetery, Levan, Utah.
