Robert Keck peacefully returned to his Father in Heaven December 16, 2024 at his home in Mona, Utah. Bob, as he was called, was born to Clarence Keck and Minnie Drinen Keck January 20, 1935 in Oketo, Marshall, Kansas in the family home. It was a cold snowy day. He joined as the 8th of 11 children.
Bob was raised on the Kansas family farm where he learned all about farming the old fashioned way with a team of 6 mules to plow, harrow, plant, and harvest the corn, wheat, milo, and popcorn. Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1954 to 1958 aboard the USS Fort Marion. He spent most of his enlisted time sailing where he was able to travel all over the world, and he fought in the Korean conflict. After his time in the service, he was given an honorable discharge.
Bob married Shirley Marie Martin on December 8, 1964 in Manhattan, Kansas. They had 6 children, Kristi, Lori, Richard, Gregg, Ann & Dell. Bob worked in various professions until 1974 when he started a new job for General Chemical, a trona mine located just outside of Green River Wyoming, where he worked for the next 29 years retiring in 2003
Bob joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1969 and was later sealed to his wife Shirley and their children in 1970. Bob was an active member of the church all his life, in his later years he would bear his vibrant testimony nearly every fast Sunday. Bob and Shirley served a family history mission at temple square in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2003.
Bob remained a faithful believer of God, and his belief truly transformed him into a new wonderful man in Christ. Bob loved to give his time, talents, and resources to others and served at every opportunity.
Bob had a passion for sweets, especially chocolate. He rarely passed up an opportunity to buy some discounted confection and bring it home for others to share. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, boating, fishing, animals, and cooking. Travel was another favorite of his. Bob especially loved to go and visit his children and stay with them for a while. Spending time with grand, and great grandkids was a high priority for him. He loved to tease and play with them.
Bob is survived by his spouse of 60 years, Shirley Marie Martin Keck and his children Kristi Lu (Bill) Keck Moore, Richard Eric Keck, Gregg Floyd (Melanie) Keck, Ann Marie (Brett) Keck Harris, and Dell Martin (Karissa) Keck. He has 26 grandkids and 34 great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings Harold, Glen, Jesse, Ken, Hazel, Rosie, Violet, Maxine, Jean, June, and granddaughters Amelia Keck Clark and Sarah Holven.
