Robert William Fullmer Johnson

Bill passed away at home surrounded by his family at the age of 91 of natural causes. He was born in S.L.C. to Robert Johnson and Lucie Johnson Callister. He grew up mainly on Capitol Hill and the Salt Lake area. He graduated early from Granite High school. He married his sweetheart, Louise Johnson in 1952. He served in the Navy for 2 years during the Korean war, then came home and began his schooling at the U. of U., where he graduated in pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for 50 years at Grand Central, Fred Meyers, Smith’s, a temp agency and the Fourth Street Clinic in Salt Lake. In 1958 he bought a home in Sandy, Utah where he lived for 62 years and enjoyed taking care of his immaculate yard.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, such as a faithful home teacher, ward clerk, a temple ordinance worker for 3 years at the Jordan River and Draper temples. He also served 2 service missions, one at the Poppy Lane Vegetable Garden Project and another teaching the English language at Deseret Industries, and his favorite calling as stake dance director for many years and regional dance director over the churchwide dance festivals. Bill had a deep passion for ballroom dancing. He loved jazz and big band music. His favorite band was the Ken Foster Trio. He and Louise took ballroom dance lessons for many years from Aurthur Murray Studio. They enjoyed teaching and performing. He was happiest on the dance floor. They loved to go to weekly dances at the Murray Arts Center, where they met many good friends. In 2015 he began teaching ballroom dance at the Draper Senior Center for 5 years with his 2 daughters. He loved sports of any kind, exercising at the Life Center at 90 years of age, reading about history and obituaries, he had a love for learning, and last but not least, he loved his family.

He was sealed to his family in the Salt Lake Temple on June 15th, 1977, for time and all eternity. Some of the wonderful qualities he had which he taught his family were honesty, hard work, love for gardening, flowers and dance, generosity and lots of others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Louise, many brother and sister in-laws, and his grandson Artem Milne.

He is survived by one brother Chris Callister, his children Debbie Crane (Jim), Bill Johnson (Debbie), Douglas Johnson (Flora), Carolyn Milne (Neil). He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, with two more on the way.
