Robert Blair Hughes

It’s with heavy hearts that we inform you that our dear Bob passed away on July 15th, 2024. His family was everything to him and he was everything to us. Robert was born on August 28th, 1930 to Bernice Rasmussen and Raymond Hughes in Midvale, UT. He married Maxine Stefanoff in 1954 and together they had two sons Michael (deceased) and Barton.

Bob graduated from Jordan High School in 1948. He then went to work for Kennecott Copper and was there for a short time, until he enlisted into the Marine Corps where he was stationed in Korea for several years during the conflict. He loved the Marine Corps. When his boys were small, he had them stand at attention and salute when the Corps hymn played on TV. What a guy. On his return home he went back to Kennecott and worked there for over 35 years.

He is survived by his wife Maxine, son Barton, daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren Amanda, Ashton, Jayden, Arianne, Kali. Along with his many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his son Michael, father, mother, brother Ray and sister-in-law Jeanne.

A graveside service with a dedication of the grave will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:30 AM at Midvale City Cemetery, 671 West 6th Ave., Midvale. The immediate family will gather prior to the graveside at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street.
