Robert Lynn Beckstrand

Robert Lynn Beckstrand, 90, passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on April 11th, 1928, in Midvale, Utah to Arnold Asael Beckstrand and Bertha Grace Smith.  He graduated from Jordan High School in 1946 and received his Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Utah.

Bob married his sweetheart, Lorraine Clinton Beckstrand, on July 7th, 1958. They enjoyed nearly 59 years of wonderful friendship, love, and companionship.

Family was everything to Dad. He is survived by his sons: Lynn (Bea), David, and Rick; daughter: Lisa Kathleen; sister: Kai (Wally); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob is pre-deceased by his first wife, Joan Cowley and his second wife, Lorraine Clinton; parents: Arnold and Grace; brother: Donald; sisters: Venice, June, and Karen; and sons: Jon and Scott.

Bob was employed as an Industrial Engineer working in steel fabrication, aerospace and healthcare industries for forty years. He retired from Intermountain Healthcare (IHC) in 1992 as Director of Management Engineering.

Bob was a very faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He played a vital role in converting many families to the gospel, of most importance his wife, Lorraine, soon after they were married.

Perhaps one of Lorraine and Bob's most important life achievements was the merging of their two young families. This must have been a difficult time for all involved, but with the Lord's help they were able to build a beautiful marriage and family together.

Dad had a great love for cars throughout his life and rumor has it he may have done a little street racing in his younger years. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding four-wheelers. He knew how to create great memories with his family! Bob was a wonderful man, he was a great son, a devoted husband, and an unconditionally loving father and grandfather.

Bob's family watched in awe as he expressed patience, service, and unconditional love towards his sweet wife, Lorraine, while he cared for her in her advancing years with Alzheimer's.

Before he passed, Bob had a special message he wanted to share with his loved ones that they would be able to hold close to their hearts forever: "I love them and I want to be with them eternally. I want them to be close to the church. I want them to be careful with their lives, both spiritually and temporally."

We have all been blessed abundantly from this tender man's Christlike example. We love him, and greatly look forward to being reunited someday.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m., funeral to follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Mountainville 3rd Ward, 901 East Village Way, Alpine, Utah.  The burial will be at the American Fork Cemetery, 26 West 600 North State, American Fork.
