Richard Stott

Richard Stott passed away on May 25, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Richard was born on June 10, 1942 to Stanley P. and Annie L. Stott in the mining town of Highland Boy, Utah.

In 1950, Richard's family moved to Midvale, where his mischievous nature fit right in with the knockabout gang of kids on 6th Avenue. Between escapades, Richard joined his father in hunting for deer and tinkering with all things mechanic, including the Indian motorcycle that Richard rode to and from Jordan High School.

An avid skier with perfect form, Richard joined the Ski Club at Jordan and had a standing reservation on the lathe in shop class (despite having lost a finger on it). Smart as well as athletic, Richard was selected to attend Boy's State his junior year. Outside of school, Richard ran the projector at the iconic Ute Drive-in for several years. After graduation in 1960, Richard earned his pilot's license and explored the American West in his Cessna.

He began working at Kennecott Copper and became one of the mine's youngest-ever journeyman machinists in 1968. Among his many adventures, he became a scuba diver, travelled from Hawaii to Alaska, and hiked in the mountains. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed.

Richard is preceded in death by father, Stanley P. Stott; mother, Annie L. Stott; and nephews Craig Setters and Richard Stott. He is survived by brother Stanley Lynn (Alice) Stott; sister Annette Setters; and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing on Wednesday, June 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) at St. Therese Catholic Church at 624 W. Lennox St. in Midvale, Utah. Funeral on Thursday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese followed by an interment at Midvale Cemetery.
