Richard Kent Shaw, our beloved husband, father and brother passed away on April 2, 2015 after a long, courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1950 in Salt Lake City to Norman W. and Leona A Shaw. After serving a full-time mission, in the California Central Mission, he was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to his eternal companion, Peggy Jo Bingham on February 15, 1974. Richard served his Father in Heaven in many callings, including Elders' Quorum President, Scoutmaster, High Council and Bishop. His favorite calling was as a Youth Sunday School teacher. He also enjoyed the 20 years he worked for the LDS Church at the Humanitarian Center. Richard led a rich full life and was beloved by many. His passing will leave a hole in the world that will not be easily filled.

The family would like to thank the staff at Encompass Hospice for the care they gave Richard and all the family and friends that provided support. Thanks also to Doctors Scott Samuelson and Michael Jones.

Richard is survived by his wife Peggy, four children, Amanda (Ryan) Spackman, Richard (Dianne) Shaw Jr., Jewelyn (Matthew) Denlinger, Samantha Shaw, two granddaughters, five grandsons, two sisters Shirley Warren and Norma (Jim) Boynton and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Norman and his mother Leona.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the West Jordan Heritage Stake Center, 7336 S. 3200 W., at Noon. A viewing will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
