Born November 14, 1969 in Waterbury, Connecticut, Richard (Rick) Paul Schull, Jr. passed away on March 20, 2024 in Kearns, Utah from complications associated with diabetes. During Rick’s early years, he lived in Southbury, CT, Randolph Township, NJ, Glenwood, IA and Cream Ridge, NJ graduating from Allentown High School in 1987. He loved to read and was quite artistic, especially drawing and clay sculpturing. He always loved the outdoors and after high school attended Paul Smith College in upstate New York with thoughts of working as a forest ranger or in the lumber industry.
Rick worked at various jobs in the northeastern U.S. for several years before moving to Utah in 1996. Shortly thereafter, he started working at a sport accessory company where he met his future wife, Lucia Fierro-Bahena. Rick and Lucia were married in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 25, 1997 and soon they were blessed with two daughters: Carol in 1998 and Jill in 2000. Rick deeply loved his daughters and wife and was devoted to his family.
Rick’s biggest challenge in life was dealing with his disease: diabetes. He was diagnosed with the disease when he was 7 years old and dealt with it his whole life. He suffered greatly from the ravages of diabetes as he aged, but he always maintained a positive attitude.
Rick is survived by his wife Lucia, children – Carol and Jill, and siblings – Todd, Karl, Traci Heppler, Kurt, Kent and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his parents – Richard Schull and Carol Connolly, and his sister Jennifer.
