On May 8th, 2024, Richard Martin, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Survived by four daughters Vicky Fountaine (Bill), Pauline Torres (Chuck), Patty Smith (Brad), Alice Elwell (Bryon), 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife Luann Martin, son Rick Martin, brother Paul Martin (Mary) and parents Paul and Mary Martin.
He retired from Sears Robuck Company and later went to work for Albertsons where at both places he was a long-haul truck driver. He loved his family; he was a jokester and loved to make others laugh. He was that one person in the room that drew everyone in with his many stories and life adventures. He served in the Korea war and retired from the Airforce after meeting and marrying the love of his life Luann. Born and raised in Pennsylvania and later brought his family to Sandy, Utah where they raised their family.
His passion in life was his dogs. There was always a joke floating around that he loved them more than his kids. If you were lucky enough to be his pet, you knew you were going to have a great life with all the treats you would ever need. He loved camping, traveling to Uma, Arizonia with his wife Luann and their friends. He enjoyed riding his 3-wheeler. He loved going to movies with his daughters, tasty food and just hanging out and working in his yard. With all the years of driving long-haul, home bound was his favorite place to be to relax. We will miss this witty man so much but feeling blessed that he can rest in peace and enjoy everyone that was waiting for him.
A viewing service will be on May 10th, 2024, from 6:00 till 8:00 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State Street, Midvale, Utah 84047. On Saturday May 11th there will be a celebration of his life at 11:00 am also at Goff Mortuary, followed with burial at Sandy City Cemetery, 700 East 9000 South, Sandy, Utah 84070 where he will rest next to his wife who has been waiting for him for 22+ years.
