Richard Henline, 63, passed away in his home on July 4, 2018. He was our loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend. Richard was an unassuming, friendly, welcoming, inclusive, funny, witty, easy-going man who seemed to get along with everyone. He loved his family, Star Trek, rock collecting, reading, and dad jokes. Truly, he had so many interests that he made connections with different people and had one-to-one conversations and relationships with them based on unique common interests. He made friends with many people and was loyal to a fault. He liked to tease people and make them laugh but was never mean-spirited. Richard had an eye for detail and a strong work ethic. It is said that we have two eyes and two ears but one mouth so we should observe and listen twice as much as we talk. Richard was much more interested in spending time with people and seeing and hearing them than in talking just to fill the space and time. He noticed the little things and noticed each person. His love, friendship, support and kindness will be missed and cherished.
Richard was born to Howard and Jessie Henline in Edinburg, Texas but lived nearly his whole life in Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School and studied for a time at Utah Technical College. He worked for 38 years at AMSCO Windows as a saw operator and crew manager. In semi-retirement, he worked for Earth's Treasures spending time helping others and sharing with them his love of rocks. He belonged to the Rockhounders Outreach for Community Knowledge (ROCK) club. For more than 30 years, Richard has been involved in co-founding and leading a large regional Star Trek Fan Club known as the Seventh Fleet. He has supported many people through a community of service, friendship, trivia, activities, and shared interests.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Buzz and Ken), his oldest son, Richard Travis Henline and two grandchildren (Ryan and Tren). He is survived by his wife, Cinnthea Henline, son Branden Henline (Tiffany), daughter Katy Staley (Cory), son Adam Henline (Summer), step-son Timothy Osborne (Mary), step-daughter Melodie Short (Christopher), step-daughter Michelle Aldana (Ben), sister Sandra Spencer (Mont), sister-in-law Linda Henline, sister Irene Peterson (Mike), brother James Henline (Raelene), 22 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many extended family members, friends and associates.
