Richard Ray Gilbert

Richard Ray Gilbert, 87, passed away peacefully in Midvale, Utah on Sunday, May 2nd, 2021.  He was born on February 28, 1934 to Royce and Leona Belle Leake Gilbert.

He was married to Norma Ruth Lester on July 28, 1956. They were blessed with three children: Julie Haggin, Rick (Paula) Gilbert and Jolene (Kevin) Gillins. He was blessed with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Richard was a Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the Midvale Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. He was a Midvale Hall of Honors Recipient.

Richard loved his family and was so caring.  He considered everyone a friend.  He was a World Class Storyteller and loved telling jokes.  He loved working on Midvale Harvest Day activities.

Richard will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Norma, his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Winchester Pavilion, 1250 Winchester Street (6400 South), Murray, Utah 84123.
