Renee Harris

Renee King Harris, 79, of Sandy, Utah returned to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 12, 2021 following a brief stint with cancer.

Renee was born January 1, 1942 to Mazle Q. and Rose Andrus King in Blackfoot, Idaho. After graduating from Bingham High School, she went on to Brigham Young University where she received her B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Music in 1964.

She enjoyed teaching at Midvalley Elementary School for one year before serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Canadian (Toronto) Mission. Upon her return, she resumed teaching at Midvalley Elementary until 1973.

She married her sweetheart and her best friend, Gary M Harris, on August 3, 1972 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple and together they have navigated life's ups and downs with hope and faith.

Renee loved music her whole life. She began singing at the young age of 1½ years old and started picking out tunes on the piano at 5 years old. She also enjoyed and excelled at dancing. She was exceedingly grateful for these talents and they served her well throughout her life- she sang and directed choirs, was a summer recreation dance teacher and a piano teacher for 62 years.

She was a shining example of living the gospel of Jesus Christ and always gave of her time and talents in every calling that she graciously accepted. She most often served in various music callings, but also served in the Young Women's program, the Relief Society, Sunday School and Primary. Together, Renee & Gary served 2 missions (Salt Lake and Nurnberg, Germany) and were temple ordinance workers in the Draper Temple for many years.

She was a sweet & thoughtful daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will always be our loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mazle & Rose King, her parents in-law, Ira & Inid Harris and 2 brothers, Kent and Lewis King.

Her legacy lives on through her husband, Gary M Harris, her daughters: Alayna (Bryan) Halling, Rachel (Robert) Arnold, Leslie (Derrick) Larson and Jennica (Robert) Mackley as well as her most-cherished grandchildren: Bryce, Ashlyn & Autumn Halling; Marissa (Dustin) Hicken and Michael, Hannah & Joshua Arnold; Oscar & Crue Larson; and Spencer, Carter, Jackson & Brooks Mackley.
