Obituary
Regina (Jeannie) Nordin Lyon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, passed away April 11, 2018 at the home she shared with her husband of 61 years, Mark Lyon. Jeannie was born June 22, 1937, in Riverside, California, spent some of her childhood in Sunnyside, Washington, and attended high school in Mesa, Arizona, the fourth child of seven.
Jeannie loved children and she loved to dance. In 1956 at the Rainbow Rendezvous dance, she met a widower from West Jordan, Mark Lyon. Once she met his three girls, it was love at first sight. Jeannie often said she got three beautiful daughters and Mark came with them. With each other and three daughters ranging from 3 months to just under 5 years old they began their lives together. Jeannie and Mark soon welcomed three more children into their busy household. At 23, Jeannie had responsibility for six children under the age of 8. As Mark’s work in construction required him to be away from home a great deal, Jeannie managed the house and family, somehow survived piano lessons for all six children, and got them all through high school. During their school years she held many local leadership positions in the PTA, her LDS stake and ward. As part of her service in the PTA, she worked to bring performances of the Utah Symphony as well as live stage plays to local schools. Her church positions included presidencies in MIA, Primary and Sunday School. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and loved bright beautiful flowers. Jeannie accomplished this despite a heart ailment, the result of having contracted Rheumatic fever during her school years. She and Mark moved from their home in West Jordan to Marblemount, Washington, in 1984 where they have enjoyed a quiet retirement.
Jeannie is survived by her husband, Mark, and their 97 descendants as well as one brother, Floyd Nordin (Mary), three sisters: Lois Nordin Fullmer (Ross, deceased); Laura Nordin Fox (Dell); Judy Nordin Hornberger (Andrew). She is preceded in death by her parents, Regina and Olaf Nordin, and sisters Phyllis Nordin Soloman (Dick), and Mary Nordin Burch (Donald, both deceased).
Jeannie’s surviving descendants include Kathryn Richards (Vern), her 5 children and 13 grandchildren; Jeanette Washburn (John), her 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; Janice Shulsen (Larry), her 6 children and 15 grandchildren; Mark Steven Lyon (Kim), his 5 children and 7 grandchildren; Sheri Mascaro (LeLand), her 5 children and 16 grandchildren; and Stuart Lyon with 2 children and 2 grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Aspen Funeral Home, 459 W. Universal Circle (9160 South), Sandy, Utah, on Thursday, April 19, from 10 am to 1 pm.
