Rebecca Matamoros Johnson (Becca), was born in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, to loving parents Don Antonio and Rebecca Peart Matamoros, on December 20, 1961, the first of three children, two brothers, Antonio and Ricardo. She is preceded in death by her father Don Antonio. She is survived by her husband DeLoy, daughter Salma, son Carlos Levin, mother Rebeca Peart, step mother Maria Teresa Matamoros, brothers Antonio and Ricardo, many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwight (Connie) and Geniel Bortz (Jack).
Becca and DeLoy met in Cabo San Lucas while he was on a fishing trip and she was working in time share sales. DeLoy knows that Becca was the best catch he ever made.
Becca understood that by increasing her knowledge she would improve her life and that of her family. She had a good education in Mexico but in the USA she quickly obtained a High School GED and English as a Second Language Certificate. She studied and became a proud Naturalized US Citizen. We are very proud of what she accomplished. She wore many hats, a scrapbook shop owner, a Spanish teacher, an employee at Centro de la Familia, Special Needs Child Education, Saint Ann's Kitchen Manager, Real Estate Agent, and the job she most loved, Insync Medical Interpreter for hospitals, clinics and schools in the Salt Lake area and from Ogden to Provo. She was particularly fond of interpreting for Special Needs Children.
Becca was a talented craft person excelling in scrap booking, greeting card design and fabrication, and quilting. She always had several projects under construction. Sadly, today in her craft room, there are many projects left unfinished. She was talented and loved to craft.
Both Becca and our daughter Salma were the best of good buddies. They loved to watch scary movies on Netflix and go shopping together, and to talk. Becca was an honest honorable woman and a very proud mother when Carlos became an Emergency Medical Technician, and our daughter Salma graduated from Juan Diego High School and was accepted into The University of Utah.
Becca and DeLoy found great joy and pride in the dance and singing performances of Salma and each certificate of training obtained by Carlos as an EMT.
Beccas example of "Hechale Ganas," "Put forth your best efforts" with a good education, was her example for all of our little family.
Becca was a wonderful wife and companion and a dedicated mother to both Carlos and Salma and is dearly loved by her husband, DeLoy, son, Carlos, and daughter Salma. She will be missed and remembered by everyone who met her, Sadly, she left our presence much too soon on June 12, 2019.
We will reunite our family in Heaven.
