Ray Silcox

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond (Ray) Darrell Silcox, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather (lovingly known as "Papa"), who was called to rest at his home in Evanston, Wyoming, surrounded by his cherished family. He left this world on August 16th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be lovingly welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Owen “Pete” and Beverly Silcox.

Ray was the embodiment of everything one could hope for in a partner, father, and friend. As a husband, he was the love of his wife's life, a source of unwavering support, and a rock upon which their love was built. His loyalty was unwavering, and his commitment to his family was boundless. His benevolent nature touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel seen, heard, and loved, making him a pillar of strength for his children and a cherished confidant for his wife.

Ray's life was one of dedication and hard work, a testament to his faithfulness to both his family and his responsibilities. He was inspiration to all who knew him, reminding us that with passion and diligence, we can achieve greatness.

Ray's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He found solace and joy in nature, especially in his meticulously tended yard that stood as a testament to his passion for its beauty. Whether it was tending to his garden, watching the sunset from his porch, or embarking on outdoor adventures, Ray's connection with the natural world was profound.

Ray's legacy lives on through his beloved family members who continue to cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patti Jo Silcox, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. Ray's nurturing spirit and wisdom will be carried forward by his sons: Jerimy (Lisa) Silcox, Houston (Yukano) Morain, Elery (Aubrey) Montgomery, and Adam Montgomery. His daughters, MiKaill “Mikie Rae” (Jay) Wilhite, Kandra “Kanner” (Josh) Noble, Karissa “Birdie” Watson-Silcox, and Melanie (Chad) Cragun, will forever hold his love in their hearts.

Ray's impact extends to the next generation as well, as he leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, with one more eagerly awaited. His lessons of love, kindness, and strength will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

Among those who held a special place in Ray's heart was Brandon Watson, a cherished individual whom Ray regarded as a bonus son. Their bond was a testament to the depth of Ray's capacity for forming meaningful connections and extending his family beyond blood ties.

In his honor, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19th  at noon at the Riverton Utah Cemetery, where friends and family can come together to celebrate a life well-lived and bid farewell to a remarkable man who touched countless lives.
