Our dear father, Ray Max Cox, a former resident of Carbon County, was reunited with his sweetheart when he passed away peacefully on August 16, 2015. Ray was born on October 28, 1923 in Provo, Utah. He joined the US Navy in 1941 at the young age of seventeen. After returning home from WWII, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Dougherty.

Ray and Mary loved dancing, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. Ray was a friend to all and brightened the room with his cheerful smile and his great sense of humor. He will be missed by many.

Ray served our country for 26 years with the US Navy and Naval Reserves. He is a veteran of three wars, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

Ray was active in the LDS church and served in many callings including Branch President, Counselor in the Bishopric, Scout Master, and a Temple worker. He was active in the business community as a Realtor, Insurance agent, Teacher, School bus driver, and many other occupations. He was also a member of The Lions Club and The Elks Club.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth Dougherty Cox; parents Jesse Rae Cox and Hazel Virginia Williams Cox; his sister Gayle Cox Ward; and his great granddaughter Destiny Cox.

He is survived by his sisters Arva Lou Cox Moss, Judy Rae Cox Tripaldi; children; Darold Cox (Cheryn), Walter Cox (Gracie), Sharon Cleveland (Russ), Virginia Nicholes (Jim), Joe Cox (Shawn), Ali Overton (Mike), Jesse Cox (Dee); 24 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, UT. There will be a viewing Sunday, August 23rd from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
