Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Randy Allan Greenhalgh, left his earthly home on November 5, 2024, at the age of 73. Randy was born on December 7, 1950, to Stellman and Faye Greenhalgh in Nephi, Utah. He was the oldest of four siblings.
From a young age, Randy was a hard worker, milking cows, changing sprinklers, and running the farm alongside his father. This early life on the farm sparked a lifelong passion for agriculture.
Randy graduated from Juab High School, where he was actively involved in FFA, parliamentary procedure, and agriculture. He was known for playing pranks on his teachers and causing mischief, but he also met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Joan.
Randy joined the Army Reserve in 1969, completing basic training in South Carolina, and he served until his honorable discharge.
On November 7, 1970, Randy and Joan were married and began their life together in Nephi. Randy worked hard to provide for his family, holding various jobs in trailer building, truck driving, NRP, construction, and farming. In 1980, Randy fulfilled his lifelong dream of running a full-time dairy farm. He continued to work the farm successfully until his retirement.
Randy was a proud father to four children: Mitchell, Wayne, Shawna, and Todd. His children worked alongside him on the farm, where countless lessons were taught, and memories were made.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Many memories were made with his family on the hills west of Nephi and Boulder Mtn.
Randy also devoted much of his time to serving his community. He was an active member of several local organizations, including the Nephi Irrigation Company, Juab Soil Conservation, the State Soil Commission, the Juab School District Board, and as a Boy Scout leader. His work connected him with many wonderful people, and he formed lasting friendships throughout the years.
Perhaps Randy’s most notable service to the community was his annual tradition of hosting elementary school field trips to the dairy farm. He loved sharing his passion for agriculture with young students, hoping to inspire a new generation to appreciate and continue the farming legacy.
Randy had a love for travel and visited numerous places, including Russia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and more. He especially enjoyed going on cruises, a pastime he cherished until his health no longer allowed him to travel.
In 2013, Randy suffered a stroke that marked the beginning of a long and challenging health journey. Despite the ups and downs, Randy never gave up. He faced his illness with determination, even if his frustration sometimes showed through. After eleven years of battling pain and suffering, we find comfort knowing that Randy is now whole again, with his mind sharp and his body strong.
Randy is survived by his loving sweetheart, Joan; his children Mitchell Greenhlagh (Tami Meckley) of Iona, ID; Wayne (Loretta) Greenhalgh of Midvale, UT; Shawna (Tyler) Keyte of Mona, UT; and Todd Greenhalgh of Mesquite, NV. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Dylan (Kate) Keyte, Leah (Andrew) White, Kayson Keyte, Lynlee Keyte, Christian Greenhalgh, Madeline Greenhalgh, Alexa Greenhalgh, Ayden (Madison) Greenhalgh, and Aaron Greenhalgh, as well as his great-granddaughter, Lainey Greenhalgh. Siblings Mark (Linda) Greenhalgh, Donna (Steve) Allred, and Carl (Amy) Greenhalgh.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Stellman and Faye Greenhalgh.
