Randall F. Smith, 85, passed away peacefully at home on February 29, 2020 in Draper, Utah.
Randall F. Smith was born September 20, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James LeVoy Smith and Rada Fitzgerald Smith. He was raised on a small farm in Draper, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1952. He served a Spanish speaking, LDS mission on the Mexican border of Texas and New Mexico. Upon returning from his mission, Randall attended BYU while also working various jobs to pay tuition. He graduated from the Marriott School of Business. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Crowther, on August 18, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. He settled in Draper, Utah, the town of his youth, and raised 3 children, dozens of cattle, horses, and his beloved dogs. Randall was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a pillar of the Draper 2nd/6th LDS wards. After working for many years for the State of Utah as a database administrator, he retired in 1999. After a few months of boring retirement, he began working as a materials inspector for PEPG and made many friends in the construction trade.
Randall was proud of his Draper and Pioneer heritage. In his later years, he was an avid genealogist and worked to complete his family tree. He was a farmer most of his life, and a farmer at heart to the end. At any time you could find him working outside to keep himself busy.
Above all, Randall loved his family more than anything. He was committed to them and made sure they knew how proud he was of them. He was the best grandpa and loved having his grandchildren near.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie C Smith, his children Jared (Katie) Smith, Jacob (Elizabeth) Smith, and Megan (Raymund) Harris, Randall's sisters Cherie Pardoe and Patricia (Ronald) Smith, and his cherished five grandchildren. Randall is now reunited with his beloved parents, his brothers' Dennis Smith and Dee Lee Smith, and sister Diane Smith.
We love you. You will be missed, but your impact and presence will remain with us all.
