Randall Ray Searcy

Randall Ray Searcy (Randy) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 12, 1971. He passed away on January 22, 2018 due to injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident. On a cold, snowy day Eugene Ray Searcy and Joanne Hill Searcy arrived at LDS Social Services to take home a beautiful baby boy with chubby cheeks and huge brown eyes. Randy joined his sister, Linda, who was 12 years older. They immediately formed a special bond. Several years later his brother, Robert, made his family complete.

Randy was passionate about sports. He played Little League basketball and baseball and rarely turned down a 3 on 3 tournament. Over the years, he rooted for the Boston Celtics, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the BYU Cougars, and the Atlanta Braves. However, those who knew him rarely planned an event if it conflicted with a Pittsburgh Steelers game. He was probably the most ardent and loyal Pittsburgh fan there has ever been. Randy's other passion was fishing. He fished with his Dad; he ice fished with his friends; he even was known to fish all night (that's when those fish in the Jordan River were jumping).

Randy also loved horses and animals in general. He wanted to be a veterinarian and would have been a compassionate caretaker. His dream was to live on a ranch in a rural area, which he was able to do when he lived with a family in Birdseye, Utah.

Most of his life Randy worked in construction. His most redeemable quality was his work ethic. He always wanted to be the one who did the best job. In his later life, he was a delivery driver for PDQ Transportation. PDQ works with Lennox to deliver its furnaces and air conditioning equipment. The dealers Randy went to often expressed how much they appreciated his great customer service and pleasant personality.

Those who knew Randy know he always had a tender heart. He always was concerned about someone in need and would often be the first one to respond to a friend's request.

Randy's life changed in 2009 when his daughter, Ella Rae, was born. He and Ella had a particular bond. He was a good father and Ella LOVED HER DADDY. She was the light of his life. Ella will have good memories of all the experiences they shared together. Randy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before his death, he was able to baptize Ella a member of the church.

He is survived by his daughter, Ella Rae, his mother Joanne Searcy, his father Eugene Ray Searcy, his sister Linda Colleen Pickett (Scott), his brother Robert Joseph Searcy (Bob), and Ella's mother Paige Nelson. Preceded in death by grandparents Eugene R. Searcy, Sr. and Janet Wilson Searcy, and Joseph Louis Hill, Jr. and Edna Merrill Hill.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for funeral and burial expenses, and support of Ella at www.gofundme.com .

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:30 a.m.; with a visitation from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Additional visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. The visitations and the funeral will be held at the River 3rd Ward Chapel, 1540 West 10400 South in South Jordan, Utah.
