Randall (Randy) Thomas O’Briant

Randall (Randy) Thomas O'Briant, 55, of West Valley City, passed away December 4, 2018. Born in Sacramento, CA to Sue and Frank Goldsberry.

In 1981, Randy graduated from Foothill-DeAnza Community College with an Associate Degree in Material Fabrication. While attending Foothill-DeAnza, Randy worked on NASA projects at the Moffet Naval Air Base in Sunnyvale, California. He did sheet metal and welding fabrication on R&D projects, including the spider monkey restraints. In 1989, Randy moved back to Utah and began a long and rewarding career of twenty-nine years with SME Steel. Randy held many positions including welder, lead man and production support. He was a dedicated, hard worker who valued sharing his knowledge with anyone willing to learn. He made many lasting relationships and good friends over the years.

Time spent with family was Randy's greatest love. Whether it be watching movies, shooting, fishing, boating or camping he loved making memories, taking photos, and enjoying every moment life had to offer. His family remembers him best as a loving husband, father and son who loved to catch the "big little ones."

Randy is survived by his wife Colleen of West Valley City, his three children, Paul Willden (Amanda) of Vancouver, WA, Amber Wagner (Chris) of Aurora, Colorado, and Eric Willden of West Valley City, Utah, three grandchildren Quincey Gomm, Anthony Wagner, and Connor Willden, mother Sue Smith of Brigham City, Utah, brothers Craig Goldsberry and Lance O'Briant.

Preceded in death by his father, Frank Goldsberry and his stepfather, Dan Smith.

It was Randy's wishes there not be a viewing or funeral. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held next summer with close family and friends.

Randy was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
