August 11, 1928 — October 3, 2021

Ramona Peterson

Ramona Peterson passed away peacefully on October 3, 2021, in Draper, Utah, and finally attained her greatest wish-to be reunited with her beloved husband. She was born on August 11, 1928, in Ovid, Idaho, to Sivel and Leone Nielson. She married Richard Peterson on September 16, 1949, in the Logan, Utah Temple. She graduated from Utah State University in 1950 with a degree in business and education. Ramona lovingly devoted her life to raising her growing family and helping them to acquire and value such life skills as education, work, sports, music, and service that continue to bless and enrich their lives. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society president, Young Women's leader, and compassionate service coordinator. Ramona and Richard served a mission in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission in 1991. Their posterity will always be grateful to them for over 40 years (and counting) of annual Lake Powell trips that served to strengthen family ties and provide wonderful memories.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Rao and Farrell, and sister Helen. She is survived by her children Stephen (Cathy), Reed (Linda), Kristie Thompson, Mike (Cara), and Sheri Terry (Roger), 22 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and her niece, Karen Watkins, whom she loved as a sister.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 11:00 a.m., at the Midvale Stake Center located at 8171 South Jackson St. (250 West), Midvale. (see below for information to view the service virtually via Zoom)  A visitation for family and friends will precede the funeral service on October 9 and will begin at 9:30 a.m. The family would be grateful if those attending the visitation and funeral would please wear masks and maintain safe social distancing as much as possible. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the humanitarian fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The family greatly appreciates the professional and loving care provided to our mother and grandmother by her wonderful Beehive Homes of Draper family, as well as Joan Simmons with Symbii Home Health and Hospice.
