Mike Kay, our beloved Father, Grandfather and Brother passed away at home after a long illness on January 9, 2018. He was born December 4, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Kay and Lorriane Mitchell. Mike married Janice Haws in 1978, later divorced. Together they have 3 children, Michell Egbert (Chad), Tiffany Kay (Adam), Brandon Kay. He has 9 grandchildren and one more on the way any day now. Mike then met Amy Gardner who had a son Brigham which Mike adored.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, brother-in-law/lifetime friend.
Mike loved to dig into the earth finding treasures such as antique bottles, arrowheads and Indian artifacts.
He loved to go arrowhead hunting and he has his own collection. He was so proud and had a story to tell to each arrowhead he found. Mike also loved fishing. His best days were when he could go fishing with his buddy/brother-in-law Don. They spent many days on the Weber River catching some nice fish.
Mike loved his kids and grandchildren. He always bragged about them and had a smile on his face when he would show you pictures of them all.
Mike had some struggles in life and he managed to get through them all.
Mike has a laugh like no one else. It was kind of a little chuckle. His laugh would make you laugh. We will never forget that laugh.
Mike was pretty miserable the last few weeks, but he still managed to do that little chuckle.
Mike was an expert at tree trimming. He spent most of his life in the tree business. He worked most recent with Advantage Tree Care and was a foreman. He was very good at trimming trees and he would brag about how good and how fast he was at his job. Before that he worked for Doug's Trees and before that for Asplundh Tree.
There will be no services, but a Celebration of Life for Mike on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 pm, where family and close friends may attend.
