Phyllis L Madison

Phyllis L. Madison, age 102, passed away at Beehive House in Riverton, Utah on Friday, September 13, 2024.

She was born in Granite, Utah on August 15, 1922. She was the third child of Orson James and Laura Pearlene Smith. Phyllis married Earl Lawrence Madison on October 27, 1941. They had two daughters together Janet Madison Hayes and Jerri Madison Thorn. 

Phyllis was a stay-at-home mom until her girls graduated from school, then she worked retail sales for ZCMI, Macy’s, Castleton's, and Sears. She loved flowers and she had gardens of them as well as fruit trees and vegetable gardens. She was a very fine cook and housekeeper. She loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in relief society and teaching the young ones.

Earl and Phyllis were married in the Salt Lake City Temple for all time and eternity. Earl passed away on November 10, 1986 from cancer. Phyllis is survived by her daughters Janet M Hayes (Harold) and Jerri M Thorn, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Orson and Laura Smith, Brothers Lawrence and Zenas, sisters Dorothy and Mary and Son-in-law Veral Thorn.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The viewing will be held at 9:45 am to 10:45am at the South Jordan Utah River Ridge Stake 1409 W. 9800 S. (Shields Ln), South Jordan, Utah. The service will start at 11:00am. The burial will be at Sandy City Cemetery 9400 South 700 East Sandy, Utah. There will be a luncheon at 1:00pm for family and friends at River Ridge Stake House.
