Peter Tilston

Peter Tilston was born March 31, 1952, and passed away November 18, 2016.

Peter was born in Denbighshire, Wales, United Kingdom. He was raised by his parents Jack and Jean Tilston along with his sisters Janet and Lyn. Our family immigrated to the United States in 1967, and Peter followed in his Dad's footsteps, successfully completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering at West Virginia University, finishing at the top of his class. Peter worked for Glencore for the past two decades and made his home in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Peter was a loyal and avid West Virginia University fan and always cheered "Let's Go Mountaineers" for everyone who would listen and also for those who didn't!! Peter followed and supported Manchester United, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Dolphins whether they were winning or losing, he was a true fan. Peter loved to travel, make new friends, listen to rock & roll and attend Rolling Stone concerts whenever possible. Peter knew the lyrics of all the Rolling Stone hits and was known at times to play an air guitar while he rocked out with the Stones! Peter loved beaches, warm weather, his family and good friends. Peter was handsome, adventurous, humorous, and always full of life. Peter was intelligent and always interested in new technology and innovative concepts. Peter's sense of humor was a true reflection of his Dad and his smile and laugh were contagious.

Peter's journey in this life ended, November 18, 2016 in Salt Lake City at Intermountain Medical Center, surrounded by family. Special thanks to Glencore for their loyal support in Peter's care and our mutual hope for a positive outcome. Peter will be missed, always loved and remembered fondly by those who knew him and he will never be forgotten.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Tatiana, his mother Jean Watson Tilston, his five children, daughter, Dione (Martin) Owens and grandson Rochus, sons, Keith, Andrew, Mateo and daughter, Sophia, his sisters Janet Burton, Lyn (Scott) Livdahl, nephews, Brad, Craig, Nick and Matt and many family members around the world. Preceded in death by his Dad, Jack Tilston, brother-in-law Paul Burton and nephew Jonathan Burton. A memorial service will follow in Barranquilla at a later date.
