Peter George Niksich, 79, passed away on August 5, 2015 in Murray, Utah due to complications from Diabetes.  He was born on April 3, 1936 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Peter Anton and Phyllis Busljeta Niksich. Pete married his sweetheart Annette Marjorie Johnson on May 10, 1958 in Midvale, Utah.

Pete graduated from Bingham High School where he played basketball. He then served his country honorably for four years in the U.S. Army early in his marriage.

Pete enjoyed serving and being with people and was loved and respected by many. This was shown through his dedication of nearly 30 years as a Deputy Sheriff with Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. He began working in 1965 in the traffic division, investigating many accidents. He served seven years before qualifying for Canyon Patrol and Rescue. Upon retirement in 1993, he was Corporal in charge of all the crossing guards in Salt Lake County. Pete also served over 10 years with Unified Fire as a line driver, working hard in the community he loved. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

Survived by his wife, Nettie; children, Brad Niksich (Gina Leavitt) and Angela (Shane) Floyd; grandchildren, Amanda, MaKayla, Madison, Braxton and Shayne; sister, Mary Ann Niksich. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milan (Jean) Niksich; sisters, Tillie (Glen) Brixey and Barbara Ann Niksich.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 W. Lennox Street, Midvale, Utah. Viewings will be held at the church on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. (Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.) and 1 hour prior to the service. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
