Our precious mother, Perla Alfonso Tubig Manglinong (age 88) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 16, 2024. She was born in Bautista, Pangasinan, Philippines on February 14, 1936, to Jacinto Tubig and Guadalupe Alfonso, the eldest of 4. She pursued an accounting degree and was the first princess of Bautista in 1956. She married Emerito Barcelona Manglinong on April 8, 1957, and together they had 5 children. By 1973, Emerito, Perla and their children settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, as US citizens. She worked at Pyke Manufacturing for 15 years with several company recognitions.
After retiring she tended to her home and family. When spring came around, she would plant bundles of charming flowers to add to their well-maintained yard. Together with her husband, they won the City Beautification Award for several years. When she wasn’t admiring their hard work, she enjoyed watching American movies, especially James Bond movies and romantic comedies. She loved family gatherings and made sure everyone was included. One of her passions was cooking and dinners were not complete without one of her signature Filipino dishes. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she treasured every moment with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Emerito Sr. Manglinong.
She is survived by her children Rhomie, Becky (Robert) Calacino, Marilyn Brown, Emerito Jr “John” (Rochelle) Manglinong and Edwin Manglinong; grandchildren Clinton McDaniel, Ryan (Becca) McDaniel, Justin (Nittaya) McDaniel, Steph Calacino, Jasmine Brown, Tanner Manglinong, Kelsey (Preston) Day, Colby (Marissa) Manglinong, and Connor Manglinong; and great-grandchildren Jordan McDaniel, Eme Rose Manglinong, Noah McDaniel, Brooklyn Manglinong, and Jameson Day.
There will be a viewing on April 22, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Goff Mortuary (8090 S State St), then a family tribute between 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM, and followed by graveside services at the West Jordan City Cemetery (7800 S 1300 W) at 11:30 AM.
Our mother was one of the sweetest and kindest people anyone could meet. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed. We love you Mom, thank you for everything.
