Penny K. Grant

Penny K. Grant, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and its complications.

Born to Leslie and Ruth (Austin) Kimball in Rich County, Utah, on October 7, 1944, Penny was raised in Garden City, Utah, alongside her three brothers and one sister. She graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho, in May 1962. After moving to Salt Lake City with her older brother, she met the love of her life, David Guy Grant. The couple married on August 1, 1963, and together they built a life filled with many animals’ love and family.

Penny leaves behind her husband, David, and their children: Troy (Lisa) Grant, Tina Grant Marshall, and Travis (Tawna) Grant. She was a proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.

Penny had a lifelong love of horses, a passion she shared with her children and grandchildren. Many weekends were spent traveling to horse shows, chariot races, high school rodeos, or camping trips, creating lasting memories with her family. She was also an avid sports fan, never missing a Miami dolphins football game and rarely skipping a Utah Jazz game. When grandsons came into her life, her heart was full as she cheered them on at their football games. Although she wasn't fond of wrestling, it only highlighted her protective nature. Penny was always her family’s biggest supporter, and her selflessness knew no bounds.

In addition to her love for family, Penny enjoyed photography, sewing, gardening, and crafting. She had a creative spirit and a nurturing heart that touched everyone around her.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Kent, Todd, Sue, and Terry, and her beloved grandson, Chance.

At Penny’s wishes, there will be no services held, and she will be cremated. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and though she may no longer be with us, she will forever be a part of our lives.
