Patricia Ross

On the evening of February 3, 2021 the earth lost a true disciple of Christ who spoiled all she knew with her love, her incredible cooking (the most delicious meals and pastries ever) and her many other talents.  With Pat Ross, no talents remained hidden under her basket!

Patricia Bailey Ross departed this earthly home as her loving husband and adoring son were by her side.  She was 82 years old. We find great peace knowing that Chris, her beloved daughter, was waiting for her with open arms.  How we wish we could have seen that reunion!

Pat was born August 29,1938 to Lyman Clyde Bailey Jr. and Maude Ruth Hoyt in Ogden, Utah. She spent her formative years in Sugarhouse, Utah with Barbara, her older sister and Billie, her younger brother. This family later expanded to include stepsisters JoAnn and Sue, and brother Scott. Pat attended South High School, class of 1956.

Pat married Walter E. Mitchell in 1957 (later divorced). Their union produced two beautiful children: Christine Mitchell Longson and Robert David Mitchell, whom were her pride and joy.  Pat's love for her children and grandchildren was exemplary!  Each knew that 'Pappy' loved them and that she would do anything for them.

Pat married Truman Edward Ross June 23, 1984 in the Salt Lake Temple.  She welcomed and loved, as her own: Sandi, Jennifer, Rebecca, Mike and Rob. Pat and Ed enjoyed 37 years together, supporting and loving each other through thick and thin.

Pat served faithfully in the  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints wherever she was needed. She especially loved the time she and Ed spent serving in the Inner City Mission, as well as the Utah State Correctional Facility (Prison). She loved the people she served and was a better person because of them.  We are certain that while Pat served as Relief Society President, people feigned illness hoping they might receive one of her dinners.  Pat's orange rolls and cinnamon rolls will live on for centuries through those who have figured out the unique recipes!  Pat was also a talented artisan and gardener and enjoyed sharing her talents with others.  For an extended period, Ed's wood shop produced mounds of sawdust as he worked to produce the wood shapes that Pat would paint, mostly for others.

Pat was a woman of much faith and devotion and we know that Chris walked her mom into the loving embrace of the Savior. How thankful we are for our knowledge of The Plan of Salvation and that this time apart is "but a moment." As a family, we pledge, to do our part to extend to others the same love Pat extended to all of us.  We know that in so doing, we are exemplifying the love of Jesus Christ.

The phrase 'Pat and Ed' rolls off our tongues denoting two people working as one.  With all Pat's love for all of us, it was Ed who took such good care of Pat through difficult years and through troublesome episodes associated with her diabetes. Ed, you are truly an angel on earth.  Thank you to Harmony Hospice and especially nurse/doctor Alexis Brewer.

Pat is survived by her husband Ed, son Bob (Lee Ann), son-in law Mark; step-children: Sandi (Ryan), Jennifer, Rebecca (Jeremy ), Mike (Lindsay), Rob (Holly); sister Barbara, brother Scott, and step-sisters JoAnn and Sue.  Pat's legacy of love are her 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents Clyde Bailey and Ruth Davis, brother Billy, and daughter Chris.
