Patricia Rosanne Sheldon Nelson

April 4, 1936 — June 8, 2023

Patricia Rosanne Sheldon Nelson

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother returned to her Heavenly Father on June 8, 2023 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born April 4, 1936 to Albert Sheldon and Afton Platt Sheldon in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pat always said she was lucky to be born a twin who became her best friend her entire life. She grew up in Salt Lake and graduated from Granite High School.

While working at Hill Air Force base Pat was set up on a blind date with the love of her life, James Nelson. They were married on August 26, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. One of which was in the Jordan River Temple.

Pat worked hard as a waitress for many years to help provide things for her family.  Having grown up with very little, she wanted to make sure that she always had what she wanted or needed. She was an avid shopper and always looked for a deal.

Pat enjoyed singing and was part of an A-cappella group in high school. Later in her life she was part of a singing group, Sunshine Company, who performed in many wards and relief society socials.  Her granddaughters loved sitting on the porch with her every Sunday evening singing many songs from little ditties to hymns. Some favorites were “Sweet Violets” and “You Are My Sunshine” and Primary songs.

Pat’s greatest joy was her family.  She loved her children and grandchildren and was always excited to see them.  She looked forward to each new baby and loved to hold and play with them.  Visits from any of her family were a joy to her. She was quick to tell people how proud she was of every one of them and about their accomplishments.

Survived by her children James (Kris) Nelson, Patricia (Paul) Taylor, Randal (Marcy) Nelson, Michael (Deborah) Nelson, Russell (Geneal) Nelson, David (Tammy) Nelson, 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her parents, husband James, brother Robert, sisters Barbara, twin Virginia, Jackie, Daughter Julie Ann Nelson, great grandson Brody Nelson.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Holladay Healthcare for the loving care she received.
