Patricia Ann Andreasen

Patricia Ann O'Connell Andreasen, age 86, passed away January 19, 2020 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT.

She was born January 8, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Lawrence John O'Connell and Evelyn Marie Schwartz. Her father died when Patti was a year old and her mother remarried John Hollister (Pop) when she was 6 years old. Patti was raised in the Los Angeles and San Jose areas, but moved to Ridgecrest, CA with Pop when her mother passed away in 1947.

During the early years in Ridgecrest she graduated from Burroughs High School in 1951 and was also crowned Desert Empire Fair Queen. She was introduced to and later joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by friends from high school. It was in Ridgecrest that she met and married James Harvey Andreasen. They were married on July 26, 1957 in China Lake, CA. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

As her children grew, Patti decided to go back to work. She was hired to work in the Public Works Department at the Naval Air Weapons Station at China Lake. Later she transferred to the security office on base and loved learning all the aspects that security entailed. When she retired, she and Jim moved to Mona, UT.

Patti was a gifted seamstress, and over the years made many clothes, costumes and wedding dresses for family and friends. She also loved to crochet and knit, and many people are the recipients of her efforts.

Patti was very active in her church and took the admonition to serve others very seriously. In fact, her friends would say that her real name was "Service." She was always there when someone needed help, hug or a listening ear. She was an amazing friend and loved all she met. Unsurprisingly, everyone dearly loved her. She looked for the best in everyone and always found it.

It is a surprise to no one that Patti loved a good adventure. Last year, at 85, she had the time of her life on a bungee trampoline in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This year she was looking forward to going zip lining, hiking with her family, and if her daughter would let her, she wanted to skydive.

Patti loved her family and her family adored her. She loved being a mother and grandmother, but nothing was better than being a great-grandmother. She is survived by her two children: Dennis (Melody) Andreasen and Tammie (Randy) Reber, four grandchildren, Cove, Rachel (Taylor), Walker (Kayla) and Emma, and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother Richard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 at 11:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 65 E. 100 N., Mona, UT 84645. Please wear joyful colors and help us celebrate her amazing life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice.
