Nola Marie Camaliche

To know Nola was to be loved by her. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Dear Nola, with her sweetheart by her side, on February 4th, 2025.

Nola Marie Camaliche was born on January 27th, 1950 to Noah (Jack) and Roberta Singleton in Provo, Utah.

She was our walking miracle. Nola was the first pediatric patient to survive open heart surgery at the age of 9. President Russell M. Nelson performed the momentous surgery, defying the medical odds at the time.

Nola married the love of her life, Joey, in 1974, having just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Joey embraced her two children, becoming a family. They settled in the Crystal Heights area of Salt Lake City. Nola and Joey were Sealed in the Manti Temple.

Nolas greatest joy was her family! All around the best mom, never missing a game, wrestling match, choir performance or event. She was her children's Scout Leaders and biggest cheerleader. When the grandkids came along, she said they filled a space in her heart she never knew was empty.

Nolas best friends were her sisters Carrol and Peggy. One of her favorite traditions, started over 30 years ago, was having lunch to celebrate each of their birthdays together. She loved her nieces and nephews as her own and they all love her.

Nola faithfully served in many callings within the LDS Church. Most of her service was associated with the Relief Society. Her times of service were some of her most cherished memories. She was the embodiment of servitude . If there was a need in a far corner, Nola would find a way to help. Nola worked with a quiet heart, never drawing attention to herself, quietly making sure her flock was taken care of. Through the Relief Society, she was a mentor and mother to all.

She found a passion in Genealogy work, spending countless hours researching family history. Nola also loved to crochet and had an incredible talent for embroidering. She was a wonderful cook and loved to teach others. Her tortillas were the best!

She worked many years in Administration within the real estate profession and the hospital world at IMC. Nolas second career was her favorite, joining the family of Off Broadway Theatre. She delighted in being a part of the productions. She always loved musicals. There wasn't a musical she didn't enjoy.

Nola will be sorely missed by her surviving family and numerous friends. Her husband Joey, daughter Kimberly and husband Jeff Merrill, her son Josh and wife Georgina Roberts, grandchildren Braxton, Mariano and Tessa. Her sisters Carrol, Peggy, Jodell and brother Tom, and her best friend Gwen. Joey’s Siblings, Norma (Leo) Leon, Linda Herrera, Barbara (Pat) Garcia, Rene Camaliche. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be held Friday, February 14th at 5:00 PM at the West Jordan Mountain View Stake Center. 2901 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah 84088.

Nola’s final resting place will be in Jackson Hole with her family.
