Nina Martinez-Olivarez

Our beioved Nina Martinez-Olivarez peacefully returned to her eternal home on March 31, 2022. Nina was born to Ursulo Martinez and Rose Vigil on May 3, 1937.

Nina's tremendous love for Our Heavenly Father, and the Blessed Virgin Mary was extraordinarv. She prayed just about every minute of every day. Whether it was while watching TV (probably Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy), in the car (likely on her way to Bingo or shopping), and especially before bed.

Nina was a class act. So graceful and elegant. Every single hair on her head was always in its perfect place. Her wardrobe, the classiest one could imagine, and boy could this woman accessorize!! She loved her jewelry. Regardless of what she donned any particular day, she did it with the utmost class and grace.

Nina's hoots and hollers during any Washington Redskins/Commanders game serve such a staple in her remembrance.

It's well known that Nina's greatest years of her life were spent caring for her loving Mom, Rose. Between the two of them, there was always hot food on the stove, and plenty of laughs in store for whomever came to visit.

Nina is survived by her children Frank (Lori) Gonzales, Yvonne (Pat} Laforett and Elizabeth (Pat) Ferguson, siblings Nai (JoAnne) Martinez, Lolo, Sonny (Patsy) Vigil, Larry Vigil, Johnny Vigil and Connie Velarde, countless grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as godchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Nina is preceded in death by her son Michael Gonzales, parents Ursulo Martinez as well as Rose and Alex Vigil, siblings Ollie Santistevan, Leroy Vigil and Trino Vigil, and grandchildren James Gonzales, Domine Sagers and Patrick (PJ) Laforett.

We would like to give a special thanks to her loving extended family at Truewood by Merrill. All their staff and associates took extra loving care of Nina. They are truly family.
