Nicolaas Ebell, 86, passed away on January 4, 2015 at the Veterans Home in Payson, Utah. He was born on October 24, 1928 in Amsterdam, Holland to Hendrik and Martha Fickerwirth Ebell. Nick married Alida "Ada" Jacoba Van Capelle on July 14, 1951 at Camp Roberts in California. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a retired Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard and enjoyed his time in Special Forces and obtained the position of jump master. Nick worked for Paragon Press for over 40 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and especially enjoyed his calling as ward organist.

Nick had a tender spot for all animals but especially his dogs, horses and llamas. Come rain, snow or shine, he rode his Harley Davidson.

Survived by his wife, Ada; daughters, Marilyn Fixell, Mariann (Randy) Bradfield, Michelle (Scott) Clark, Monique (Matthew) Ault, Margeret Schults and Marlo (Reid) Hess; 26 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Theresa Ebell. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Henk Ebell; son-in-law, Robert Schults.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Crescent Ridge 2nd Ward, 10975 S. Prescott Drive (1650 East), Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah and 1 hour prior to the services, at the church. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
