Nancy Hennefer-Clark, 61, graduated from this life on May 31, 2017, in Coalville, UT, while staying with her daughter.
Nancy was a beautiful baby girl. Born on July 31, 1955, with gorgeous curls, to Heber Lehi and June Ellen (Cox) Hennefer.
Raised in Henefer, Utah, Nancy was an outgoing and active child. A lover of the outdoors, she rode horses in 4-H, and had many great memories playing at the river bottoms on her Grandparents' farm with her brother Dennis and many friends from the town.
She was a very bright and inquisitive child. She proudly learned to read prior to starting kindergarten. She gave credit to her Grandfather for his many hours of patience in teaching her. Reading became Nancy's favorite pastime. Her strong vocabulary and quick-thinking mind would often allow her to finish an entire book in just a few hours. Adventures, non-fiction, and especially history books were the types you could count on seeing her engaged in.
Nancy attended school within the North Summit School District. She was well-liked in school, with friends remembering her as being fun, outgoing, creative, full of laughter, and honest. Everyone who knew her will remember her beautiful and contagious smile forever.
Nancy graduated from North Summit High School in 1973.
Nancy had an unmatched drive and work ethic. These traits assisted her in a successful climb up the corporate ladder in Geophysical Exploration. After reaching the top, she supervised work crews and projects from start to finish. Projects were completed all across the United States and Canada. This was done during a time where women were a rarity as workers in the seismic field. Nancy was the only female supervisor, and with the uncanny abilities to blend into every environment she faced, great contract negotiation skills, and skilled communication with employees, she was respected by coworkers as "one of the guys." Nancy called Dubois, Wyoming home during this time, and she was very proud to pay cash for her first home.
In 1991, Nancy found the perfect fit for marriage, falling in love with Richard Lynn Clark, and they were married in 1995 (in Las Vegas, Nevada).
Nancy quickly befriended all 5 of Lynn and Sheryl's children. Never having children of her own, she never wanted to take the a place of "mother." She was able to create a better place and position by being an amazing friend to each of them, always giving unconditional love and support. Nancy always loved without question.
Lynn and Nancy lived their lives together, excited for the adventure around the bend. Together, they operated a business painting cars and log furniture in Coalville.
After relocating to La Verkin, Richard partnered to sell manufactured homes. Nancy worked alongside him each day, showing homes, arranging for contractors, and helping pour concrete pads.
Changing focus, they began flipping homes before it was cool. While selling homes in Coalville, La Verkin, and St. George, they settled in Bullhead City, AZ.
In true fashion for her quest for adventure, she contracted with the Arizona Medical Examiners Office, picking up and transporting the remains of people's loved ones. She completed this with reverence and care.
Nancy always had a deep love for animals. In 1998, Nancy opened her last business, Clark's Critter Care, in Bullhead City, Arizona. Nancy owned and operated the business, which offered pet sitting services in the clients' homes. Nancy would check on the animal more times than she was contracted to, just to make sure they were okay (with the temperature being 127 degrees, at times). Offering this service at the home of the client prevented animals from needing to leave their safe environment for a strange kennel while their owners were out of town.
Life brought many changes for Nancy following Lynn's passing in 2006. With strength and determination, and through the assistance of a special friend, Patrick Hilleary, she traveled the rocky and windy road of grief. With his assistance, she traveled the road, never lonely.
Nancy left Bullhead City in mid-April 2017, and returned to Coalville to be with her family and friends.
Prior to her passing, Nancy was in the process of redesigning an old office trailer into a trendy Tiny Home. She planned to remain in Coalville to be around those who she dearly loved and who loved her. With her plans to make a fresh start in Coalville underway, she enjoyed each day as she watched her step-children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their daily lives. Nancy showed unmatched enthusiasm when talking about the accomplishments of her family. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly, frequently speaking of visits made to see them while they were growing up. She loved each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was proud of each and everyone one of them as individuals. After a long recovery period spent at the home of Sherylyn Wade and her family in 2015, she had a special bond with her great-granddaughter Vaelyn, calling her "Scooter Magee."
Nancy had a fun and witty personality. She could lighten any dark situation with a well-thought-out remark at the perfect time.
Nancy was a one-of-a-kind person and was a tough act to follow.
Nancy is survived by her brother Dennis (Brenda) Hennefer; her "children-by-choice," Zyle Kent, Sherylyn, Amberly Lynn, and Zory Kreg; grandchildren, Zachery, Kristopher, Brandon, ShayNell, Kolby, McKalie, Drae, Kodie, Elisha, Christian, Kaycee, Kayden, Nathan, Sydney, Zyler, and Zander; great grandchildren, Paisley, Vaelyn, Zayden, and Avram; nieces, Layla and Sadie; nephews, Sean, Chad, Lane, Jesse, Daniel, and Cody; and friends who loved her, Lon Steven Wray, Patrick Hilleary, and Sheryl Clark. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lynn Clark, her step-son, Zale Kyle Clark, her parents Lehi and June, and a brother; Delaine Hennefer.
Nancy will be greatly missed by the many people who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 4. Interment was in the Upton Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge Goff Mortuary for a job very well done. And we give special thanks to Tracy Sargent for going above and beyond to make the services beautiful on short notice and making it happen on a Sunday in our rural town was no small feat.
