Our beloved Mother, MuiLeng DeMass, 63, peacefully passed away on March 14, 2019. MuiLeng was born on March 19, 1955 in Singapore to See Fang and Kim Choo Foo. She was raised in Singapore. MuiLeng attended the Raffles Girls' Secondary School where she was Secretary of the Literacy Debating Society, Table-Tennis House Captain, and a member of the chess club.
She attended BYU-Hawaii from 1977-78, BYU-Provo from 1979-80, and graduated from the University of Utah in 1983 with a degree in Mathematics. MuiLeng was a BYU fanatic and was disappointed she did not graduate from BYU! She married Rick on August 27, 1980, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had a successful career as a computer programmer for many years.
MuiLeng and Rick moved many times in their lives and made many wonderful friendships along the way that they cherished. She had a generous heart and was completely selfless when it came to helping others in whatever way she could. She was a connoisseur of food and enjoyed eating many different types of cuisine. MuiLeng and Rick loved to entertain and their home was always filled with family and friends. She was a huge BYU fan and had season tickets for football and basketball. Those lucky enough to know her can share how animated and excited she would get watching games. Go Cougars! MuiLeng adored her two grandchildren Izzie and Dane. Like any good Asian grandmother she encouraged Izzie to excel in school, particularly in math. She liked to quiz Izzie on her times tables every time they talked. She loved cuddling with Dane and always talked about his cute dimples.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick. She is survived by her two children, Kimberly and Daniel, and her two grandchildren Izzie and Dane. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and family.
Funeral services will be held at the Murray 25th Ward building, 4600 South 160 East, on Wednesday, March 20, beginning at 12:00 pm. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 am to 11:45 am that morning. Interment will follow at the Murray City Cemetery.
