It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend. Lynne passed away at home surrounded by family and loved ones, due to complications from Dementia.
Lynne was born in Idaho Falls, to Merlon Burdette Sayer and Mora Bae Williams. She was the oldest of four children. The family lived in Shelley Idaho for much of her childhood, then moved to Connell, Washington, where they owned a farm. Lynne preferred to help her mom in the kitchen. There she developed her lifelong love of baking. Lynne and a friend began making wedding cakes for family and friends over the years. They also hand dipped chocolates together. Among her other creative hobbies; sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting and scrapbooking.
Lynne graduated from Connell High School in 1961, Connell, Washington. She attended BYU in Rexburg, Idaho. Lynne was very social and enjoyed going out dancing with friends. Here she met and married Clark Harmon Lile, from North Platte Nebraska. They settled down in beautiful Salt Lake City to raise their 4 children together. She would go on to earn her Associate Degree and become an Electronics Technician for Litton Guidance Systems, working on gyroscopes for missiles and then later on computer boards for Micron. Clark and Lynne would remain close friends even after divorcing and Lynne continued to wrap him a box of his favorite homemade chocolates every year at Christmas.
As time went on, Lynne’s faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints grew. She enthusiastically accepted her many different callings. It was at a dance that she finally met her best friend, Myron LeRoy Dixon, from Mason City, Iowa. The two married April 22, 1994 and were sealed in the West Jordan Temple one year later, April 22, 1995. Her happiness was complete. With Myron by her side and a well-deserved retirement, they traveled. Nothing gave them more joy than driving all over to see their loved ones. They moved to Glenwood Utah for some years where they enjoyed fishing at Fish Lake. But aging brought them home to Salt Lake to be close to both their families. Once Lynne was diagnosed with Dementia, Myron was committed to caring for her at home. His patience and kind nature sustained her through some of her darkest times. Together their faith, family, friends, and community saw them through it all. His unwavering love for Lynne gave her the strength to fight valiantly against Dementia, with such courage and grace. It has been the greatest gift for her to be home, comfortable and safe, where she died with dignity, knowing how much she was loved. We will miss you terribly.
Lynne is survived by husband Myron L. Dixon; children Susan K. Hadfield (Gary), Steven C. Lile, Jeannie L. Overman (Daniel), Nancy Gardner, Sandra K. Dixon, Tammy J. Fenchel; grandchildren Zale K.
