For many years, Moonyeen taught history at Mt. Jordan Middle School, and even after retiring, she continued to serve as a substitute teacher. She had an insatiable love for reading and was well-versed in a variety of subjects. Her husband Clyde often remarked on her brilliance.
Moonyeen was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her talents as a seamstress, cook, homemaker, and gardener were admired by many. She delighted in knitting beautiful clothing items, particularly the precious baby sweaters she crafted for newborns in her extended family. She and Clyde shared a passion for home remodeling, turning their houses into wonderful homes. Moonyeen also dabbled in stained glass artistry, creating stunning pieces. In her later years, she embarked on many adventures across the globe alongside her daughter Gaye.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, her daughter Gaye, her grandsons Cian and Darragh, and a sister-in-law, Maryann Newman, as well as many nieces and nephews whose lives she deeply influenced. Also preceding her were Clyde Jr’s parents, Clyde Sr and Anne Hettrick, and two sisters Shirley Bowen and Barbara “Bobbie” Wheatley.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Escalante at Willowcreek Assisted Living for their exceptional care during Moonyeen's recent health struggles.
