Mont Spencer Yates passed away Friday, October 13th in St. George, Utah. He was born November 11th, 1924 in Oakley, Utah to Mary Hortense Gibbons and John Bryan Yates. He married Betty Evelyn Keyte on November 29th, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in World War II and worked for the Railroad for 20 years.
He loved camping, fishing, horses and trapping. He was voted Trapper of the Year in 2007. He enjoyed being with family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Marlin (Coleen) Yates, St. George, daughters-in-law Lori Kingston, St. George and Ann Yates, Vernal; 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great grandsons; and a brother, Don Yates.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and sons Cleve Bryan and Jeffery Mont.
A visitation will be held in the Mona 1st Ward House on Tuesday, October 17th from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, with a graveside service at the Mona Cemetery to follow.
