Modesta Mercado

Modesta Rosado Mercado passed away in the early morning hours of May 14, 2019 at the age of ninety. She has returned home to a joyful celebration and dancing the Puerto Rican Salsa with her mother, Isabelle Mercado, father, Clemente Rosado, two brothers, three sisters, daughter Rosa Martinez and four grandchildren. She is survived by 4 of her children, 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Born in Barranquittas, Puerto Rico, Modesta moved to Utah in 1949, where she raised her five children. Throughout her life she was known for her classic beauty. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was well known for being caring and generous to those close to her. Spending time with her grandbabies was her light to happiness, they are her greatest joy. Modesta frequently enjoyed visiting her family in Puerto Rico, Connecticut and New Jersey. She had a strong catholic faith and was a member of St. Theresa's Parish for many years. Her hobbies included playing bingo and shopping with her friends and grandchildren. The pride and love that she had for her island was enriched in everyone whose life she touched. She will be missed and forever and always loved.

A private Rosary and Mass will be held at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church on Friday May 17, 2019 at 12 pm for her family and friends, 7832 Allen St. Midvale, UT 84047.
