Our sweet mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Michelle Wintch Moss passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning of Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the age of 66 due to complications from cancer.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 31, 1955 as the first of four children to Garth A Wintch and Darlene C. Wintch Madson. She grew up in Murray, Utah and attended Murray High School where she was an honors student, member of the Madrigal Choir, and twirled the baton in the Spartanettes Pep Club. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from Brigham Young University. She worked as a social worker with the State of Utah for 38 years, most of those years with the Division of Child and Family Services, where she made many friends and helped improved the lives of countless children and families of Utah. She married Donald Moss in August of 1981 (later divorced) and had three children: one stillborn daughter, Eric Moss, and Katie Moss Francis.
She was an active, endowed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the peace and joy her religion brought to herself and others. She happily and diligently served in various callings throughout her life such as relief society secretary, primary teacher, and compassionate service leader. Anyone who had the pleasure to know her could attest she was a true Christ-like example of love, selflessness, and warmth. She would go to any length to help others even if it meant putting herself or her needs second.
Family was her greatest joy and her three grandchildren were the light of her life. She genuinely enjoyed showing her pride and support of her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren by attending every game, performance, or event that she could. She always looked forward to regular get-togethers with her cousins where they would laugh and share stories of their childhood. Holidays were something she especially looked forward to as they were times she knew she would get to spend with those closest to her.
She was an avid BYU football fan (though would root for any Utah team) and attended many games over the span of her life. She was also a Utah Jazz basketball fan, had been a member of a championship- winning bowling team, and was a true lover of Diet Coke and anything chocolate.
Michelle was an outgoing person full of warmth, kindness, and love. She truly cared about all those around her. It was a blessing to have her as part of our lives and her presence will be greatly missed.
She is survived by: her mother Darlene C. Wintch Madson; her children Eric Moss and Katie (Brandon) Francis; her three grandsons Connor, Colton, and Jace; siblings Eileen (Gary) Parker and Larry (Stacey) Wintch; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Garth A Wintch and her brother Mark A. Wintch.
