Michael Maynard, 70, passed away on June 21st, 2019. Born April 23, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Adopted by loving parents Joseph William Maynard (Father) and Grace Dille Maynard (Mother).
He grew up in West Jordan, Utah with his older brother, Gene Maynard. He loved music and began studying the accordian at the age of 6 until 16 under the direction of Ben Cuatto.
He was a 3 time AAA trophy winner at the AMA festivals in 1963, 1964 and 1965. Mike was an accomplished accordianist-we all loved listening to him play.
He enlisted in the Marines in 1966 and served 3 years in the Vietnam War. He was appointed as a Private First Class, Lance Corporal, Radio Telegraph Operator, and was also a Vietnamese Translator.
He was a child of the 60's. He had a passion for music, and put together an amazing record collection of so many obscure and also well known artists. He had a song for everything.
He read thousands of books, and wrote poetry. He loved the outdoors, loved summer and enjoyed camping, hiking and gardening.
He fathered two children, Travis Maynard, son of Sherrie Heap (deceased), and Michelle Maynard, daughter of Shearl Savage (deceased), and was a stepfather to 5, Rick, Celeste, Thomas, Anthony and Martin Kemp.
He was a grandpa to 23 and great grandpa to 1.
He was an extremely hardworking and punctual man, and worked for the IJ & Jeanné Wagner Jewish Community Center for 14 years.
He was an amazingly insightful person, never turned anyone away and always gave honest advice.
He said exactly what was on his mind and had no qualms about being himself. Straight to the point!
He was loyal and trustworthy; if he could do something for someone he would do it.
He was never judgemental and always understood that everyone has their own story, and what they decide to do with it is in their hands.
He will forever be loved and missed by so many, and his many analogies of life and enlightenment will live on forever.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 at 1 pm at Anderson and Goff Mortuary, 11895 South 700 East, Draper, Utah.
