Merrill Henson Scott

Merrill Henson Scott, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away December 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 9, 1938 in Santa Monica, California to Glenn Henson Scott and Erma Sims.

He attended Davis High, served in the US Air Force Strategic Air Command (he kept those "birds flying" as a mechanic), and in the Central States Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from BYU, where he met the love of his life, Ronée Ottesen. They were married in the Oakland Temple on Valentine's Day 1967. They were blessed with 7 children.

Merrill loved the Lord and was a faithful High Priest in the Church. He served in many callings and especially loved working in Scouting, Family History, Home Teaching, and in the Draper Utah Temple. He and Ronée served twice in the Salt Lake Inner City Mission and volunteered at the Timpanogos Women's Family History Center at the Utah State Prison. His professional career included entrepreneur, elementary school teacher, professional Scout executive, and insurance and investments salesman. He loved serving others, working in his garden, and sharing his home grown fruits and vegetables with others. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Ronée, 7 children, Christopher Ronald, Stefani Dee (Troy) Walker, John Taylor (Rachel), Michael David (Regan), Charity Elizabeth (Darin) Bartholomew, Victoria Maria, and Merrill Henson, Jr (Candace), 20 grandchildren, siblings, Annette (Clark) Lium, his twin Michael Glenn (Marilyn), Susan (Marlon) Bateman, John Elijah (Susan), Daniel Eugene, and half-brother Paul Glenn, and step-mother Joan Scott.
